Panama stands alone on gay scouts issue.

Four Central  American Scouts have opted for no sexual discrimination while Panama is operating a “no gays” policy.

 According to a wire agency ACAN-EFE,  the associations of Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Nicaragua indicated that they will  not exclude gays from its ranks.

The director of the Association of Scouts of Honduras, Raul del Cid, said the group "has  its beginnings in the world scout movement, which provides for no distinction as to the sexual preference of its members."

Meanwhile, the news agency said the Support Unit Scouting in El Salvador, according to its director, Anibal Avendano, follows the principles of the World Scout Movement, "therefore, no distinction can be made by sexual preference."

The statements were issued after earlier the week the Boy Scouts of America said they will not accept gays in the organization and the Panama Association has a rule saying it "will not accept members with apparent homosexual behavior or admitting  to being gay" according to a La Prensa  interview  with the executive director.
