Police in Colon were doing their job police chief

While Panama’s Ombudsman has condemned police violation of civil rights during the recent Colon protests, the Police Director says the police were protecting the city.

Julio Moltó said Saturday. November 3,  that the the problems were caused by "individuals who infiltrated the peaceful demonstration using illegal weapons to loot businesses. The police were protecting those who were demonstrating peacefully during the 11 days of demonstrations against the law that allowed the sale of land within the Colón Free Zone. Three people died in the protests and dozens of people were injured.

Moltó said that the police were doing their job but  The Broad  Front for Colón has criticized the police and Ombudsman Partria Portugal has announced an investigation into the three deaths.
