Martinelli government based on business bribery-excomptroller

A FORMER Panama comptroller, defined the administration of President Ricardo Martinelli as "a government of business bribery”.

In a no holds barred interview with journalist Flor Mizrachi, on Radio Panama, Alvin Weeden said that "Martinelli is a great businessman and realized that the government was the country's most powerful business and that if he took the government he could become the richest man in the country doing  great works for large bribes , and that's what he's done. "

Added to that are direct contracts, irregular situations and assumptions overruns and they fear leaving office knowing they can be investigated.
"For me, Martinelli will be remembered as a great thief," he said.
"If you want to define the Martinelli government: a corporate governance to bribe," he said.
"The guy [Martinelli] has developed a structure of power to enrich himself as he could do with a company or an industry but found it more productive to be president and make more money in bribes and works contracts worth millions and millions than selling cans at the supermarket, "he said.
Weeden is running as an independent for a seat in the National Assembly and says has felt pleasantly surprised by the warmth, friendliness and level of success he is having.
He said his goal of reaching the National Assembly is to create good laws and there is respect to public property, because the Legislature represents democracy and should be a watchdog.
