CD deputy to quit party to run as independent

ERNESTO Villareal, current alternate deputy in the 2-4 circuit of Aguadulce, announced Sunday, September 8  that he would start collecting signatures to launch his candidacy as an independent.

Villareal said that he will remain as a member of the CD until January 2014, the deadline imposed by the Electoral Tribunal for independent candidates to present their petitions for office.

He wasn't allowed to run for deputy under the CD. He said the decision to run as an independent will allow the residents of the circuit to select their deputy without interference from the party.

He said that he will continue to support José Domingo Arias's candidacy for the presidency.

There are about 12,000 CD members in the circuit.
