Martinelli in Rome for papal audience accompanied by Moscoso
President Ricardo Martinelli arrived in Rome, Friday, October 25, for a private audience with Pope Francisco.
Former Panamenista President Mireya Moscoso was also part of the delegation, limited to 10, headed byMartinelli and his wife, first lady Marta Linares de Martinelli.
They were greeted at the airport by the head of the Spanish section of the Secretariat of State, Monsignor Fernando Chica; the Ambassador of Panama to the Holy See Delia Cardenas and the Ambassador to Italy Guido Martinelli Jr.
It is expected that Martinelli will also participate in in the gardens of the Vatican in the blessing ceremony of a statue that was donated by the president and his family on behalf of the Panamanian people.
Martinelli's agenda begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday with the unveiling of the statue which will be followed by the meeting with the Pope.
Later, he will meet with the Minister of Foreign Relations of the Holy See, Archbishop Dominique Mamberti.
