Mother and two children die in Colon house fire

A MOTHER and two children, trapped in a bathroom,died in a fire at their home in Margarita, Colón, on Wednesday night, December 18.

The children, whose names were not released 13 and 16 years of age. Lieutenant Colonel Oscar Santizo of the Colón Fire Department said that the victims could not find a way out of the burning house.

The father who tried to enter the house when he arrived home, suffered third-degree burns in his rescue attempt and is currently hospitalized.
La Prensa reports that neighbors complained on Thursday morning about the slow response of the fire department.
The incident is under investigation.
