40 families hit by explosion and fire

A GAS TANK explosion in Colon started a fire affecting some 40 families on Christmas Eve.

The explosion and fire occurred at 12 Avenida Federico Boyd and Dominic Diaz in the village of Barrio Sur.

Several rooms were consumed by fire, which members of the Fire Department managed to subdue, despite the low water pressure in the area.
Osvaldo Chavarria, director of the Ministry of Housing and Land Management (Miviot) said tha social workers were assessing the damage and the condition of the affected families.
