Solis throws down gauntlet to Martinelli

President Ricardo Martinelli is sure that his party will be removed from power said PRD vice presidential candidate Gerardo Solís on Wednesday January 15.

Solis, right, after his nomination

Political commentators seem united in believing that Solis will put some spark into the seemingly wait-and-see lack luster PRD campaign behind former mayor Juan Carlos Navarro. Solis was named as running mate for Navarro on Sunday, and immediately raised the spirits of the PRD supporters with a rousing acceptance speech that sparked awareness across all three main political parties,

In his latest barn burner approach, Solís said that he and PRD presidential candidate Navarro are two obstacles that the ruling CD will not be able to overcome in the upcoming election.
"Ricardo Martinelli is reacting to the reality that is being presented to him," he said.
Solís, an independent who abandoned his presidential campaign to join the PRD ticket, said that uniting independents and a major party will prove to be a formidable combination in the election, reports La Prensa.
Solís said that, if elected, he will strive to pursue "a transparent government that is going to pay its bills."
He also said that the government needs to be transformed into one where decisions come from the people.
