Major League Baseball returns to Panama after 67 years

PANAMA’S Rod Carew Stadium is being prepared for the return of Major League Baseball to Panama after a 67 year hiatus. The New York Yankees and the Miami Marlins will take to the field on March 15 and 26.

Eric Holland, administrator of the stadium, said that the field was inspected by officials from Major League Baseball, and that they will inspect the field one more time before the exhibition games

The games are being held in honor of Mariano Rivera, who retired from his role as the closer for the Yankees at the end of last season.,
Also present will be another Yankees’ star Derek Jeter, who recently announced he will retire at the end of the season.
The last MLB game in Panama was in 1947.
Holland said that he is working with all relevant entities to make it a good show for the fans, which includes better parking and entrances to the stadium.
