Vote counting in Panama mayoralty race halted
COUNTING of votes cast in the Panama mayoralty race was temporarily suspended Monday evening in the face of protests from PRD candidate José Luis Fábrega.
The count, which is taking place at the headquarters of the National Lottery, is 83 percent complete and while it appearedtoo close to call by early evening when counting stopped, for the day Fabrega was trailing Panameñista candidate Jose Blandón by 4,153 . There are ballots from 217 more polling stations left to be tabulated.
