Alibaba donates $156 million to Chinese women’s soccer team

The Chinese women’s soccer team will receive a donation of $156 million from Jack Ma, founder of the online trading giant group Alibaba,  he announced on Friday, July 5

The 1 billion yuan  will be paid over the next decade to support “the women’s national team, the prevention, and treatment of injuries, the development of careers for retired players,  technical development and the training of female coaches, as well as the development of young players.” Jack Ma said in a statement.

China reached the quarter-finals of the 2019 World Cup, whose final takes place on Sunday in Lyon, France,  between the United States and the Netherlands.
