PRD and Panamenista Party reach governance accord

WEEKS of negotiations between the PRD and Panameñista parties were concluded on the eve of the Presidential inauguration with an agreement for “legislative governance.”
The final agreement came on Monday afternoon, June 30 and includes the choice of Panameñista deputy Adolfo Valderrama.as the next president of the National Assembly.

The two vice presidents will be PRD members, yet to be named..
The Panameñista Party negotiatos waited until Monday afternoon for the response of the PRD, who met through the weekend, to discuss the Panameñista proposal.
The PRD National Executive Council approved the development of the legislative agreement, which they called “Panama First, for the governance of the country.”
The agreement commits the two benches in the National Assembly to collaborate on topics including “municipal decentralization; an educational revolution; forensic audits of all government megaprojects”
It will also work on a “citizen security program at the national level; a profound reform of the public health system; raise the Authority of the Environment Ministry and ensure drinking water to all citizens.”
Another issue that was agreed is to ” give special attention to the indigenous comarcas, creating a new Ministry for the Development of Indigenous Peoples.”
