Four deny sexual links with accused judge
FOUR PEOPLE interviewed on Wednesday, June 10, in the investigation of Supreme Court Judge, Victor Benavides, for the alleged commission of crimes against public administration and against sexual freedom and integrity (pedophilia), have denied any sexual involvement.
The announcement came from Deputy Jorge Alberto Rosas, acting as prosecutor in the National Assembly.
Rosas, accompanied by his team of advisers, interviewed the four people at the headquarters of the Court for Children and Adolescents, located in of Santiago, Veraguas province.
The deputy prosecutor told the media today he was investigating the alleged crimes against decency. The interviewees were identified by Vicente Caballero -the main witness, who said they would have had sexual contact with Benavides when they were minors.
Rosas said three of those consulted were older before Benavides became a judge and the fourth has denied any connection with the magistrate.
“In all the four have denied any connection with the judge,” he said the prosecutor.
Vicente is serving 15 years prison ter in Santiago for the kidnapping of the mother of the judge, in 2010. It was Caballero who sent a letter to the National Assembly, accusing Benavides of the sale of judicial decisions and pedophilia.
