Ex-security minister to stay behind bars

 A REQUEST   by former Minister of Public Security José Raúl Mulino to be let out of pre trial detention was denied on Monday, November 30 by   Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Zuleyka Moore.

He  is  under investigation over “irregularities”  in the $125 million purchase of radars from Selex, a subsidiary of the Italian conglomerate Finmeccanica.

The request was filed while he was being questioned about the case. He was accompanied by his son,José Raúl Mulino Cohen, who is acting as his lawyer. Mulino Cohen said the request was based on medical reports.

The former Minister is the latest of a long line of former officials seeking to escape cell confinement   for more comfortable quarters  The former minister has been detained since Oct. 26. The prosecutor has previously indicated that she believes Mulino to be a flight risk.
