Former governors court hearing on hold

 A COURT  hearing scheduled for Monday, July 11, for former  Coclé Governor, and head of  Petaquila Mines,  Richard Fifer, has been suspended.

He faces charges for withholding contributions to Social Security. He is also facing other charges with a separate indictment.

The hearing was delayed at the request of his latest  lawyer, Tomás Góndola, who explained that he only signed on to represent Fifer on the morning of the scheduled hearing. It  had been slated to start at 9 a.m.

Fifer was the legal representative of the scandal plagued Petaquilla Gold company.. He is accused of failing to pay some $3 million in money owed to Social Security oin behalf of employees of the company.

Fifer remains in preventive detention.
