Phony firefighters on the make alert

Panama’s Fire Department issued a warning on  Sunday, May 20, that there is a team of people posing as members of service offering fire extinguisher recharge services for a price greater than $40.

A statement from the “bomberos” says  that they  do not belong to the institution, and  citizens are warned, “to be vigilant not to become victims of fraud.”

Firefighters in the Chepo regional area have received calls from owners of commercial premises who have reported that people are posing as inspectors of the Fire Department providing the recharge services for fire extinguishers says the statement.
