Private  schools must return 15% of fees for 2021

After the ruling issued by the Eighth Circuit Court in favor of the legal action filed by the Authority for Consumer Protection (Acodeco), against private schools that make equal charges for face-to-face and virtual education, Jorge Quintero, administrator of the entity, said that the best thing is for the schools to reach an agreement with the parents.

He said that complaints have been filed for the order of $1.2 million against private schools, of which 50% have reached an agreement,  where agreements have not been reached, and lawsuits have had to be filed to solve the problem.

He explained that for there to be an increase in costs there must be a meeting

between the Parents’ Association, the Ministry of Education, and the school. Quintero stressed that a contract for face-to-face education and virtual education is not the same, and that was raised in 2020.

With the ruling issued by the Court, 15% of the sums paid during 2021 must be returned.
