Holy Week gave domestic tourism a $242.2 million boost

 

The days off for the commemoration of Holy Week generated an economic impact of $242.2 million in domestic tourism, reports the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP).

According to the entity, there was an increase of 80% in 2022 compared to 2021, which reflected an economic impact of $133.9 million. From the Albrook Bus Terminal and in private vehicles, a total of 1, 614,827 people traveled to the interior of the country.

Hotel occupancy was over 90% and the most visited regions were: Pacific Riviera; Pedasí, Los Santos, Santa Catalina, Veraguas, Boca Chica, Boquete, Volcán, Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro, priority destinations of the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan.
