Due to having a final conviction issued by the Superior Tribunal for the Settlement of Criminal Cases of the First Judicial District, personnel from the Electoral Prosecutor’s Office requested this Wednesday, January 31, to the Electoral Tribunal (TE), that the representative of the township of Las Uvas, in the district of San Carlos, Arístides Vásquez, be removed from office.

Vásquez was convicted of a crime against the public administration in the form of embezzlement, to the detriment of the Las Uvas Community Board.

Ismael Rodríguez, head of Legal Counsel of the Electoral Prosecutor’s Office, explained that the Electoral Code establishes that any elected official who is convicted must be removed from office at the request of the Electoral Prosecutor’s Office.
