Panama Government Launches a Mulino Economic Plan with an Investment of $350 Million

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino announced the launch of a plan to boost the country’s economic recovery, which involves investing $350 million in 14 projects in the capital and the interior —both restored and new projects— focused on water, health, education and government, and which will generate more than 10,000 jobs.  At his weekly press conference on Thursday, the president explained that this announcement represents the first part of an investment plan that plans to execute 19 projects, including re-launched or new ones, within a program that includes 33 works that will create jobs and reactivate the country’s economy.

Programs to improve water supply networks nationwide; rehabilitation and maintenance of drinking water treatment plants (PTAP); the development of the Arraiján, Sabanitas II and David PTAPs; the Nueva Esperanza Penitentiary Center, Colón; the Women’s Rehabilitation Center, Pacora; the new San Isidro Polycenter, San Miguelito; the Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital, Colón; the new Children’s Hospital; Bugaba Hospital, Chiriquí; the new Aquilino Tejeira Hospital, Penonomé; the Anita Moreno Hospital, Los Santos, and a school rehabilitation and maintenance program make up this first stage of 14 projects.  “The plan includes larger infrastructure projects that obviously cost a lot more money and will require a bit of financial engineering to be able to move forward, but the idea is to complete a group of important projects this year that will have an impact in fiscal year 2025,” said President Mulino.
