Nurses demand meeting with top brass

The National Association of Nurses of Panama while ruling out strike action has demanded a meeting with the authorities of the Ministry of   Health (Minsa)  and the Social Security Fund (CSS).

The president of the union, Elidya Espinosa, said Wednesday that they require the presence of the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, the director of the Social Security Fund, Enrique Lau Cortés and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Héctor Alexander so that at a table can listen to the requests and disagreement that the nurses maintain.

They also denounced the dismissals of some members and ask that the right to defense of these colleagues be guaranteed, whose cases are maintained at the level of the board of directors.

Expired terms, timely remunerations, levels of specialties, and classifications are other issues that they require to be discussed at the table.

Meanwhile, teachers are threatening to strike next week and firefighters are demanding a response to their demands.
