1,850 pigs  drowned by Los Santos floodwaters

 

Intense rains in the province of Los Santos caused several rivers in to overflow their banks, leaving at least 200 houses underwater, the death by drowning of 1,850  pigs, and the destruction of crops.

 

The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) reported that the number of affected could increase in the coming hours.

In the area of Tonosí, sectors such as El Bebedero, Tonosí Cabecera, Tronosa, Pueblo Nuevo, Río Viejo de Perina, Guaniquito, and El Chara were flooded.

The entity also reported that in the provinces of Veraguas and Herrera there were also floods. In Herrera, they dealt with 12 landslides.

The authorities maintain a yellow alert for six provinces due to the rains.
