Tropical cyclone prompts heavy rain alert

The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) continues to monitor a disturbance likely to develop into a tropical cyclone in the Caribbean basin.

The prevention notice will remain in force from October 6 to 10 throughout the country, with maximum vigilance over Chiriquí, Veraguas, Darién, Los Santos, East Panama, Costa Abajo de Colón, and the Ngäbe Buglé region.

Sinaproc forecasts significant amounts of rain in the country, especially from October 7 to 9, due to the numerous rainy events with intensities from light to strong and periods from frequent to constant.

Risks due to flash floods and overflowing rivers and streams, falling trees, landslides due to soil saturation, and sectorized urban flooding are not ruled out.
