Cops and operating staff will monitor face shield compliance

Operational personnel and the police will ensure that users of Panama Metro comply with the mandatory wearing of the face shield as protection against covid-19 from Monday, May 17.

“The use of a face shield does not replace the mask (mandatory use as of June 2020), since they are a complementary barrier against the virus. It is important that users understand that everyone must wear a mask and face shield when traveling in the system because it protects them in more than 90% of the risk of contagion from Covid-19 ”, said the Panama Metro in a statement.

On May 4, the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, reported that from May 17, public transport could increase its capacity to 80%. The use of a face shield or a double mask will be mandatory, said Sucre, who indicated that the transport unit must have signs that inform the user that it is forbidden to talk, inside the bus and that the cell phone cannot be used to speak.

The Panama Metro reported that in the last week the teaching campaign with users about the importance of this additional tool for protection against the virus was intensified.

The Metrobus administration also reminded bus users that from Monday it is mandatory to use the face screen.
