Former presidents will take covid vaccine

Former United States Presidents Barack ObamaGeorge W. Bush and Bill Clinton expressed their willingness to publicly vaccinate against Covid-19 to encourage their fellow citizens to do the same.

Obama, 59, said he has “complete confidence” in the country’s health authorities, including immunologist Anthony Fauci, a highly respected scientific figure in the United States.

“If Anthony Fauci tells me that this vaccine is safe and can immunize against Covid, I will definitely take it,” he said in a radio interview on SiriusXM , excerpts of which were shared Wednesday on YouTube.

“I promise you that when (vaccination) is done for people who are less at risk, I will take it. It may end up doing it on television or filming it, just so people know that I trust this science, “he explained.

A George W. Bush representative later told CNN that the 74-year-old Republican former president was also willing to promote vaccines, administering the dose “in front of the cameras.”

And Bill Clinton’s spokesman, Ángel Ureña, also told CNN that the former Democratic president, also 74, would be publicly vaccinated “if that encourages all Americans to do the same.”
