Virus mortality rate in Panama at 2.8%

The mortality rate of patients infected with COVID—19  in Panama is 2.8%, lower than the world average estimated at 7% reported Health Minister Rosario Turner on Monday. May 11 as five new deaths brought the total  who have died from the virus to 249  with te total number of accumulated cases at 8,618.

Panama has 42% of the beds in intensive care units available. In addition, 49% of the beds in the wards of different hospitals in the country are available along with 67% of ventilators in the public and private sectors.
