US gives $750,000 boost to “exemplary” Panama virus response
The United States government has allocated $750,000 to boost Panama’s health system in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak
“This emergency humanitarian assistance will strengthen health care, protecting the most vulnerable, and support Panama’s efforts to combat the pandemic,” says a USA Embassy statement
Assistance for Panama comes from funds from the State Department and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
“Panama is doing exemplary work to control this virus that knows no borders and is affecting the entire world. I am proud that my country can offer this humanitarian assistance to Panama, one of our great allies, and a country that has become an example of solidarity for the world in the midst of this health crisis,” said Philip Laidlaw interim chief of mission of the Embassy.
