Trump put down after mocking Academy Awards
President Donald Trump got a quick put down after a rally in Colorado Springs on Thursday, February 20 after he mocked the Academy Awards for awarding the best film award to Parasites, the dark South Korean satire that made history at the Oscars
“By the way, how bad the Academy Awards were this year! Did you see? ”Trump said “And the winner is… a South Korean movie! What the hell was all that? We already have enough problems with South Korea for trade and, besides that, do they give them the best movie of the year? Is it good? I do not know”.
Trump said he preferred classic Hollywood movies like Gone with the Wind, released in 1939, and The Twilight of a Life, released in 1950, over Parasites, which also won the award for best foreign film, best director and Best original script.
“I thought it was the best foreign film, right? Best foreign movie. Do not! Has this happened before? Trump asked.
It made history as the first foreign-language film to win the main prize.
Neon, the company that distributes Parasites, responded to Trump on Twitter, suggesting that he could not understand the subtitles.
“Understandable, he can’t read,” said the tweet.
