Rains cause widespread flooding, schools closed

Heavy overnight downpours on  Thursday , November 15 caused flooding in many areas of  Colon as stream overflowed and led to the cancelation of school classes.

The most affected areas were  in San Pedro, Guayabal, San Isidro, La Verbena, Ciudad del Sol, and  Casco Viejo

Homes have been flooded and into homes, and some cars have been seen floating in the streets.

In some areas, there was widespread traffic congestion because drivers did not know where to go as the majority of roads were flooded.

The Civil Protection System  (Sinaproc) remains in the areas of risk and asks the population to take necessary precautions while it evaluates the number of families affected by the rains and the provision of humanitarian assistance.
