Thieves steal food of underprivileged kids
THIEVES stole the food destined to provide snacks for at least 160 low-income students in a Chitre secondary school on Monday, October 1
Leiviana Poveda, technical assistant director of Segundo Familiar Cano de Monagrillo said that the delinquents forced the lock of the school canteen, taking rice, cans of tuna, canned corn, and other foods. a cooler, a microwave and a refrigerator were also stolen from the dining room.
“Now we’ll have to see how we can find funds to buy fresh supplies because it is a commitment to give the snack to students with limited economic resources,” he said.
This was the third time the school has been raided.
Poveda said that the campus facilities are too large for a single guard but requests have been made to the Ministry of Education for additional security have not been successful.
The school is attended by 1,865 students served by 160 teachers.
