6-months traffic deaths down to 184
Highway traffic deaths in the first six months of the year reached 184, a reduction of 63 over the same period last year, but still too high in a country with a little over four million people.
A National Police report highlights that in the period between January and July of 2017 there were 247 deaths.
The National Director of Traffic Operations, Ismael Herrera, said that “each accident where human losses are recorded, represent sadness for those who we daily keep on the streets to avoid accidents. Our main mission is to not record any regrettable fact.”
The National Police said that they will continue to apply controls and punish drivers who violate traffic regulations
