OPINION: Unscrupulousness arrogance and corruption

Hoyporhoy La Prensa June 11

WITH THE APPROACH of July 1, political parties show their best arts and worst practices in negotiating the board of the National Assembly.

The deplorable spectacle of 2015, kept the country on tenterhooks and should not be repeated. The various forces fighting for control of the legislature, now also include two former presidents of the Republic. The flirtation between Ricardo Martinelli and Ernesto Perez Balladares leaves a feeling fraught with cynicism and dislike. It is evident that the ex-rulers only seek to take control of this organ of the State to benefit themselves and their relatives. Wolves in sheep’s clothing who fly the flag of dialogue to resolve conflicts; however, arrogance, unscrupulousness and corruption surrounded them while they occupied the Palace of the Herons. It is inadmissible that political sabre  rattling over control of the Assembly rests with  a president who dares not return to the country to face justice and one on which serious accusations weigh at the international level, and who also, yesterday, irresponsibly, made a call to violence.

Enough of lies and demagoguery. Their bedfellow agreements and the  impunity with which they are conducted, produced disgust among citizens.

It is time to restore honor and decency to democracy. Panama deserves much more than what you have given.
