San Miguelito mayor knocks culecos

SAN MIGUELITO Mayor,  Gerald Cumberbatch, is the latest official to denounce the use of water for spraying  dancing revelers (culecos) during  Carnival.

“No one can escape the reality that is facing the country.” said Cumbebatch.  He has asked the Carnival Board  to cancel the culecos.

He follows Agriculture Minister Jorge Arango, who has described the use of water for cuelcos while cattle are dying and corn crops shriveling, as a crime, and said carnival can be held without using the precious commodity needed on the country’s farmland.

With the start of Carnival only a few days away, only Panama’s Tourism board ATP, seems to be unaware of the problem.
