Panama Traffic Deaths reach 197

TWO MORE DEATHS  bring the Panama toll from traffic accidents in the year so far, to 197 in less than  six months.

Richard Manuel Bejarano, 32, left a party on Sunday evening in the Brisas del  Golf neighborhood and, while  heading to his home in Felipillo, 24 Diciembre  he crashed into a ravine after losing  control of his car when he swerved to avoid a vehicle that crossed into his lane  in ​​Camino Real, in the village of Rufina Alfaro.

Earlier in the day a truck carrying thousands of gallons of bunker fuel to    Puerto Caimito in La Chorrera                

crashed into a bridge and overturned. The driver Roberto Vasquez was killed, and oil spilled on the road led to  traffic jams in both directions.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident as the driver was experienced and familiar with the route.
