Panama Traffic Deaths reach 197
TWO MORE DEATHS bring the Panama toll from traffic accidents in the year so far, to 197 in less than six months.
Richard Manuel Bejarano, 32, left a party on Sunday evening in the Brisas del Golf neighborhood and, while heading to his home in Felipillo, 24 Diciembre he crashed into a ravine after losing control of his car when he swerved to avoid a vehicle that crossed into his lane in Camino Real, in the village of Rufina Alfaro.
Earlier in the day a truck carrying thousands of gallons of bunker fuel to Puerto Caimito in La Chorrera
crashed into a bridge and overturned. The driver Roberto Vasquez was killed, and oil spilled on the road led to traffic jams in both directions.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident as the driver was experienced and familiar with the route.
