A LOCATION intended for the operation of an Anti-Corruption Academy, was rented from the sister of, Carlos Orillac, former head of presidential administration under Ricardo Martinelli for $100,402 and never used.
The space in Los Angeles was rented by the National Authority of Transparency and Access to Information (Antai) for $4,276 a month in spite of a proposal from the Maritime University of Panama to provide free space and another proposal from a location near the Antai, with a monthly fee of $2,675,” says the institution.
This came to light following a report of an internal audit of the Antai, formerly headed by Abigail Benzadón now under the administration of Angelica Maytín.
The Antai forwarded the audit to the Comptroller General’s Office for investigation for possible patrimonial injury: “It relates to a procurement by. Abigail Cohen Benzadón from the company Los Angeles Resources SA, April 14, 2014, breaking clear provisions of Article 17, 62, 74 of the Public Procurement Law 22”, said the entity.
The office rented by Benzadón was not occupied from April 2014 until December of that year, when Maytín took over. She immediately ordered an audit, reports La Prensa.
