OFF THE CUFF: Martinelli soap opera script arrives

PANAMA’S Minister of Public Security, Rodolfo Aguilera announced Friday, January 3 that he has received a 5000 page copy of the case file from the criminal proceedings involving the Italian defense contractor Finmeccanica and contracts it signed with the Panamanian government.

It will be translated into Spanish and authenticated. Staff have already been hired to do the translating.
The next step, he said will be to present it to Third Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Lorena Corenal, who is investigating the case locally.
The case file revolves around the purchase of $250 million in defense equipment from the contractor by the government of Ricardo Martinelli).
The minister also plans to meet with Attorney General Kenya Isolde Porcell, who was sworn into office on Friday. Her predecessor, Ana Belfon, a Ricardo Martinelli appointment closed the file on local investigations.
