Prevarication ends – Papadimitriu successor named

The prevarication, denials, and verbal smoke screens about the resignation of Minister of the Presidency Demitrio  Papademitriu ended early Monday evening when the name of his successor was announced.

The new Minister of the Presidency is Roberto Henriquez, who was previously Foreign Minister.

The announcement vindicates La Estrella which first broke the news of Papadimitriu’s resignation, and silences those who described the stories circulating in the, media  during four days of government silence as “gossip” and strengthens the belief of analysts who see a cabinet in disarray.

Martinelli accepted the resignation during the weekend  but as late as Monday afternoon the Minister of Trade and Industry, Ricardo Quijano, said that Papadimitriu was still in the Cabinet.
