The IFF brings a rich array of critically-acclaimed films to Panama.  “A Separation,” a touching and controversial drama about family life in contemporary Iran, won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film this year, as well as Golden Globe, Cesar, Golden Bear, and Fajr Festival awards.   Many of cinema’s most revered figures, such as Francis Ford Copolla and Woody Allen, expressed profound respect for the film.

“A Separation” begins with a couple’s struggle over whether to move abroad for the sake of their young daughter, or stay in Tehran to care for a sick parent.  A morally-complex web unfolds from there, capturing the audience with the actors’ honest, emotional performances.

Newsroom  Panama from now to the opening date, April 26, will provide daily previews of the 50 films that will be shown.
