All Diablos Rojos will be gone by Christmas – ATTT

Drivers hate them, pedestrians fear them, the police ignore them, and camera touting tourists love them, but  regardless of your views  Panama's Diablos Rojos will be off the streets by year end.

In fact, with luck, says Transport Authority czar Jorge Ricardo Fabrega,  Santa will be able to arrive without being deafened or  suffocated "In the December  the last of the  red devils will be gone and the trunk lines covering  the different routes will be in place” he said.

A previous forecast from Minister of the Presidency, Jimmy Papadimitriu  had given July of 2011 as the month for all  the new metro buses to be in place.

Fabrega was more cautious. "Renewing the fleet will take  about a year," Therefore, he said,  Panamanians have to be patient.

The complete changes (including the subway) will take three or four years.
