5.8 earthquake hits Chiriqui

An earthquake of 5.8 degrees on the Richter scale was registered  in Panama on Saturday April 30, in the province where the Baru volcano s being monitored after showing signs of activity.

The quake came at 3:17 a.m. in Chiriquí. No major damage or serious injuries were reported says the regional director of the civil defense agency (Sinaproc).

 The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean, near Coiba Island, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The earthquake was also felt in Veraguas, Los Santos, Coclé, and Bocas del Toro.
