Cosy cops charged with homicide remain on duty

Nine Panama police officers are now in custody  facing homicide charges  after the burning deaths of five Inmates  in a juvenile  a detention center. All remain on duty. 

On Friday March 4, a court upheld four murder charges filed against police officers.  These are in addition to previously five charged.with the deaths  in the Tocumen center on Jan. 9. Charges are also pending against three  civilian employees ,two guards and the director, Iris Cedeno.

Compared to the prisoners who died or others on lesser charges in La Joya prison,  they will be leading a comfortable life.   Some of those charged were seen on video refusing aid to burning victims. The video  was seen by audiences around the world

Those officers will remain on duty at the National Police Headquarters handling paperwork.
