‘Eagle in Love’ Wins the President of the Republic Classic
The Presidente Remón Racetrack was decked out to host the 95th edition of the prestigious President of the Republic Classic, attracting more than 2,000 people to its main grandstand, on a day full of excitement and glamour. The race, which has established itself as one of the most important events on the Panamanian equestrian calendar, took place Sunday July 21 and was attended by prominent dignitaries, including President José Raúl Mulino and First Lady Maricel Cohen de Mulino. This edition was particularly special, as it marked the first attendance of a Panamanian president in a decade. In the current century, only Ricardo Martinelli, in the 2009 edition, and Juan Carlos Varela, in the 2014 version, had attended this emblematic event.
The President of the Republic of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, presented the first place prize on Sunday afternoon, July 21, to Eric Antonio Del Valle, owner of the horse “Eagle in Love,” who won the 95th edition of the Clásico Presidente at the Hipódromo Presidente Remón. The star of the day was the American horse ‘Eagle in Love’, from Stud El Águila, who took first place in an exciting competition. Under the skillful riding of Omar Hernández Jr. and the training of Roberto Arango, ‘Eagle in Love’ showed his supremacy in the final 400 meters after the last curve, firmly covering the 2,100 meters of the race.
