OPINION: Change but no change

What has changed with the new appointments announced yesterday by the President? On the one hand, it strengthened partisan operators in its work team. The appointments of two vice ministers as heads of their respective portfolios and the daughter of a party patriarch continue to clearly reflect the internal divisiveness of the PRD.

On the other hand, it leaves a taste of more of the same, rather than a tiller turn. The replacement of Turner - the most respected minister, but whose departure was inevitable after the fiasco of the call for a meeting of her party at a local restaurant - with her deputy minister emphasizes the continuity of health policies and strategy of the Government against the pandemic.

But, above all, the most questioned ministers remained in their portfolios. It remains to be seen which side the new team members will fold to.

Time will allow evaluating the management of the new ministers, but everything seems to indicate that the more things change, the more they remain the same. LA PRENSA, June 25

Just noticed in passing that JBb has his posts .....and he has something to say on everything..marked as one day ago. Does he secretly work for NP? He is always the first. Wonder if that’s his night job and in addition works as a watchman in the Canal as he always has time on his hands to post his vitriol . Does his boss know how much time he spends on line I wonder ? I’m retired and get up late and are still to busy most days to respond to his idiocy. By the way you guys noticed that all those flights back to US are headed to areas of worst Covid outbreaks anywhere! I see they have problems of their own over there. So bad that even fugitive sons are bailing out to return home.

Turner" the most respected minister". What? No idea from nothing but maybe the others are much more worse. Kick the can down the road Panama get rid of this Idiot Cortizo and the poor intelligent rest. Put them in jail and later let them work in a Mine. Panama has enought places for corrupt felons.

Once again jbb passes his usual right wing nutjob opinions that do nothing but try to denigrate the country that has given him a home and respite from the chaos that is america. Sure there are problems here, but Panama will survive and so will its people, third world or no. But look at america right now......probably worse than any third world country in the rest of the world. The absolutely worst covid situation in the world....absolute lack of leadership....trump willing to let thousands die just so he can get reelected.....lies to the people daily....with as corrupt a cabinet that has ever run any third world country in the history of the world. Jbb you have never once said anything positive about Panama that I have seen, but there must have been something that brought you here. Try to remember that as you berate us....try to remember that as you watch the amazing failures of "the best president america has ever had".....YOUR WORDS!! Biggest joke ever and another prime example of america exceptionalism. Big joke!!

Anyone with doubts about the future in Panama and the carnage this lockdown will bring should read this. https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2020/06/24/imf-predicts-worst-recession-since-great-depression/ Many of the countries never locked down but still will take a hit since when United States consumption falls it collapses everyone else. Panama uses the dollar so it will get the exported inflation from the trillions of stimulus. Standard of living for Panama will fall dramatically and it wasn't that great to start with. The Americans will not take vacations or will do staycations close to home, so no tourism for Panama. Panama continues to be shutdown and the longer this continues the deeper the depression and ensuing crime wave will be here. The new Marxist regime doesn't care, they have to break it all down to build it back into their "new normal".

The Marxists have a deep bench so if they shuffle the deck and move Turner out they have an equally rabidly left partisan to fill the slot. The Millionaire Jews leaving by the plane load was the Canary in the coal mine for what's happening here. The Jews or "Israelis" as some prefer are more attuned to tyranny than most. The election of the PRD and the virus together ensures Panama stays third world for this century. I constantly tell the supers here that are close to retirement to get a visa to another country just as an insurance policy for them and their families. It's something most wealthy Panamanian families ( Rabi Blancos) already have.
