Ending quarantine fatigue

The total quarantine and social isolation measures were aimed at controlling coronavirus infections and preventing hospitals and other health facilities from collapsing. The health authorities have managed to identify with great precision the contagion conglomerates, which in various parts of the national geography keep the rate of new infections above the expected level.
In other cities, such as Bogotá, absolute quarantine has been concentrated in these conglomerates, while opening with sanitary measures and physical distancing applies to the rest of society.
This strategy avoids population fatigue, reduces the fatigue of health personnel and efficiently allocates human and health care resources to the most needy areas. It is appropriate to open the doors and expand activities in those areas with a low level of infection, making it easier for those at lower risk to move more freely. Panama has amply proven that it has the capacity to face the pandemic. Now let's demonstrate that we are capable of overcoming quarantine - LA PRENSA, May 20.

@Cicero. I live close to Dallas Texas and while we may or may not have rising cases here in Texas, I don't know. One thing I do know is that we are not under a draconian lock down. Went to Walmart last night at 10PM and it was great. Only a few people were wearing masks but at least we have the freedom to choose and that is the most important thing. Yes there were stupid little arrows on the floor but nobody followed them. If you stay away from the big cities, the people are just acting normal. There are a bunch of lefty nut-tards in the big cities as always who want to bow down to the WHO and CDC. I still own property in Panama but I am going to keep it just so Commie Sara and dummy yarkaki cant have it. Trump is the best thing that has happened to the USA for a long time.

Sara wanta to tax gringos. It probably wouldn't be constitutional to single out one group of residenta for taxes while sparing rich Panameños who make as much or more than the gringos. Who do you think is responsible for preventing the reassessment of property values? It's rich Panameños, not gringos.

"Texas is a good state to go to," writes Rick. Sure, if you want a place where new cases are going up!

All these comments I find upsetting. I'm a US Citizen, having lived and worked in Panama for almost 50 years. I've known many US Ex-Pats over these years and have become friends with a very few of them. I've watched them make many mistakes in choosing where and how to live. I don't know a single one who left making money on their investments, because of their poor choices of not understanding the lay of the land and where the good and bad places were to invest. I can understand the anti-Gringo feeling for many Panamanians, but feel many of those feeling are because of a lack of understanding of the different cultures. I know so many good and loving Panamanians and also some bad ones. Same with my American friends. That's just the way the world is. As far as the comments on Panama using the US Dollar, all I can say is that, as a businessman, Panama should be thankful we use the US Dollar. Look at the inflation other countries have experienced over the years with inflation running, in some instances over 1000% And for those who criticize the Panama Canal, just think for a moment what would Panama be without it???? Just another banana republic. No place is perfect, so I am thankful for Panama, with the good and the bad..

to Sara. Almost no Panamanian creates income or taxes for Panama. It's all about the gringos honey. (Trolls from Cortizo should be more firm in English) The gringo money the canal and the airport that's Panama's money. Cortizo's cattles are never the future and you Sara are the absolut past. I wish your wish to live in a country like Nicaragua or Salvador comes true. You never earned getting any gringo dollar your really should only pay with smallest Balboa coins.

Good on all of you who want to leave. Please go. Sara... the gringos do pay to live here as in taxes on whatever, property tax, tax when they go to the store, tas on gasoline, etc.... same as us. And Panama needs to go back to 100% Balboa. Coins, b/1, b5, b10, b20.... etc..... Tomcat what vehicle do you have for sale? Take cash?

Yes Tomcat leave our Panama and take you fellow gringos with you. There is an awakening here among the people that the gringo is all the problem. We use the Dollar which only brings us the inflation. The gringo influence and bribe our officials with DEA money. The average Panamanian lives in poverty while the gringo eats our food, uses our roads and hospitals for free. Tax the gringos!! Higher fees at airports, hotels and casinos. Taxing gringo properties in the interior who live like kings but never contribute. NO gringo should be on beach land or derecho de posesión land. These properties are for Panamanians but corruption of the gringo money has robbed the Panamanian of his birth right. There is movements in the barrios that the people are being reeducated on the rights and with the help of Presidente Cortizo the filthy gringos will finally pay to live here or flee like Tomcat!

Yes, Cortizo and government "authorities" are uninformed and ignorant. But many places in the US are not better, maybe worse. Listen to Glenn Beck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI3JkLPNcKE&feature=em-lbcastemail

If you have an opportunity to return to the U.S. make sure you research the place you are heading to because some states/counties are run by leftist scum bags who are prolonging lock downs and are slow to reopen. Many cities are open but still require masks to enter stores which sucks. Either way any place in the U.S. is better than Panama right now.

Tomcat, I hope you can find a way to get out of Panama. You guys have the most draconian restrictions in the world. it's inhumane what the government is doing to you. I'm glad I left a few years ago never to return. Expats need to heed caution if considering moving to Panama because another virus will probably hit in the future and it will be hell all over again. Good luck!

Dang Tomcat so close but yet so far. I have a coworker who is on that flight to Houston next week, he is happy to have gotten a seat. I sent him a link to your posts. I have 15 more months then I should be able to get out of this Socialist piss hole also. Take the money and run as the saying goes. I hope that there is a future flight for people like you and your wife who have the ability to escape. Buena Suerte!

Thanks ziggy and Rick for your good wishes and advise. It appears we are still locked in here under house arrest for the foreseeable future. I have been following the news up north and it appears the Democrats have a real hatred for the freedoms of the American people. We are now definitely 2 more votes for Trump to help him carry Ohio in November, if we can get there in time to vote!

The plan was to take a rental car from Houston to Toledo but the humanitarian flight is now full😭. I can't believe it booked out in under 24 hours. The United Tep now tells me that no other humanitarian flights are scheduled. The demand to leave Panama is very high apparently. The Rep told me to register with the embassy in case another flight is offered. I said if demand is so high send another plane people want out, we need out! She said she just does bookings but she wishes the best for people trapped here. Coming to Panama continues to be the worst mistake of my life.

I escaped to the US on May 8th with Spirit. I am now in Chicago, and Illinois still maintains a strong grip on the movement of individuals in public. Gov. Pritzker has a long drawn-out plan for reopening Illinois, so many people are driving to Wisconsin for their Beer/Bar fix. Nonetheless, it is truly a freedom we rarely appreciate: being able to go to Walmart at 2 PM on a Sunday! But please stay alert, because many Walmart shoppers seem confused by aisle directional arrows, and the 6-foot distancing is primarily ignored. Good luck!

Good luck Tomcat. Might want to check with people you know as to which state you go to. I know you do NOT want to go to Michigan. Texas is a good place to go. Some states are better than others in the midst of this farce, but I am sure you have already done your homework. Now about the article; The only thing Panama has amply proven, is that the people will be controlled completely by the government.

There is a humanitarian flight from Panama to Houston Texas on May 27th sponsored by United Airlines. I just spoke to a United Rep and there are a few seats left. I am going to see if I can get a power of attorney for sale of the vehicles and catch that flight next week. Wish us luck!
