Tsunami check after 5,9 quake near Isla Coiba
A 5.9 earthquake with its epicenter near the Island of Coiba in Veraguas was felt in many parts of Panama on Wednesday afternoon reports the Institute of Geosciences at the University of Panama and that according to preliminary
The earthquake was felt in the provinces of Chiriquí, Veraguas, Coclé and in the Azuero region.
According to Carlos Rumbo the director of the of the Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), , there have been no reports of damage , but monitoring work continues.
“So far it seems not represent a tsunami risk. However, Sinaproc staff has moved to sensitive areas and are reinforces monitoring” said Rumbo
