Criticism of the decision on Tuesday, August  12  to announce the opening of some economic sectors, such as beauty salons while maintaining mobility restrictions, based on sex and ID number sparked a quick response from the  Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre.

He announced on  Wednesday that they are evaluating making those measures more flexible. This will depend on the cases that are presented in the next 15 days.

"If the numbers continue to drop, we are going to grant them, not two,  but possibly four hours, so that they can then be in the different places and our Panamanian ladies can make all the arrangements they need," he said.

Currently, in the provinces of Panama and West Panama, the mobility restriction is governed by gender and ID number, from Monday to Friday. Women go out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and men on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and only for two hours.
