Another two men allegedly involved in the rape of two Norwegian tourists during a robbery aboard a sailing vessel moored in Nombre Dios Bay appeared in a Colon court on Tuesday, November 19  and will remain in provisional detention for six months while investigations continue.

They join six other young men arrested during a police raid and found with items stolen from the sailboat Alibaba which left Norway in September on a world tour. The men were  ordered detained, on November 14

The incident occurred in the early hours of November 8. The two young women, one aged 22 and the other 25, were with four friends, were surprised by eight men, who threatened them with a gun and robbed them. The girls were raped. one by three men and the other by four. Those involved videotaped the outrage.

The first attackers were ordered preventive detention on November 14. The case is being followed by a Norwegian news channel and has alarmed Panama tourist authorities who fear fallout to the country’s image.
