From Monday, December 6, the United States will require travelers from all over the world to present a negative test for coronavirus 24 hours prior to their flight.

The proof must be presented regardless of their vaccination status or country of origin with the intention of avoiding community transmission in the United States of Ómicron, the new variant of Covid-19.

US authorities confirmed this Wednesday, December 1, the first case of the Omicron variant, in the state of California.

According to media reports, the one infected with the new variant is a man who returned to the United States after being in South Africa.

The new measure is part of the package announced Thursday, December 2 by the government of President Joe Biden, which includes the policies that will be followed in the country during the winter in a country where are  70 million unvaccinated people.

Prior to this decision, the United States required pre-departure testing of vaccinated and unvaccinated air travelers but were more demanding with the unvaccinated.
