During March 2019, Latin American and Caribbean airlines carried  25 million passengers,  a growth of 4.4% compared to March 2018.

The figures bring the first quarter to 3.6 million additional passengers and growth of 5%.

Figures from the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) show reveal that. Brazil transported more than one million additional passengers between January and March  reaching  4.4% growth, positioning the country as the generator of almost 30% of the accumulated growth

In Mexico over more than 250,000  additional domestic passengers were transported during f March, reaching a growth of 6.5% with respect to March 2018 and an accumulated growth of 6.3% in the first quarter of 2019

Colombia,  the third most important domestic market in the region in passenger volume, showed a  growth of 11.2% in March and an accumulated growth of 10.3% in 2019.

 Argentina achieved a double-digit percentage growth (13%)

 Chile’s domestic market grew   16.6% in March and. In the cumulative January-March, the country reached the highest growth in the region with 18.1%, benefits generated by the reduction of taxes and fees.

 Extraregional international traffic grew 1.2%, despite a slight deceleration in traffic to and from the United States.

During the first quarter of the year, the region's airlines continued to increase their fleet and route network: 17 aircraft were delivered during the first three months of the year and 4 new routes were inaugurated (three domestic and one international).

Since  April 30, Pedro Heilbron  the CEO of Copa Airlines has been  interim president of ALTA
