The shipment of 8 containers, of melons from Santeño to England, is an important economic injection for the Azuero region says Idalidis Batista, president of the board of directors of the agricultural cooperative El Progreso RL.

The  eight contaiers are the vanguard  of  about    60 that will be shipped to England in2020-2021,

He said that the “Melón Dorado” project is being developed by the cooperative from Agua Buena, from Los Santos, with the logistical support of the agricultural commission of the Panamanian Autonomous Cooperative Institute.

For this period, about 50 hectares have been planted, with the financing of around $1 million from the cooperative, he added.
